W.Y. Boyd Military Fiction (2009-10)

Seen the Glory: A Novel of the Battle of Gettysburg by John Hough Jr. has won the 2010 W. Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction.

The $5,000 award honors "the best fiction set in a period when the United States was at war" and aims to recognize "the service of American veterans and encourage the writing and publishing of outstanding war-related fiction."

It’s an excellent work that chronicles the lives of an Army patrol in Italy during the bleak winter of 1944 and details their adventures and the futility and moral complexity of combat.
